A look back at Irish fashion in 2014


Many councils flourish in the year 2014, in those remarkable names, the council of Irish Fashion Designer also got the fame and 2014 served them as a positive and polished year. The organization not only grew in terms of membership but also as international recognition. The Council of Irish Fashion Designer is consisted on seventeen designer members. In 2014, they have worked on across variety of Fashion disciplines like couture, ready to wear millinery and above all fashion accessories.

As the year has passed, it is time to celebrate the year’s success. So, why not have a look back at the Irish Fashion 2014.  The Irish Fashion Council Members have developed such and intricate design and have able to comprised some of the established names on the Irish scene alongside the best emerging talent. This includes the names and labels such as Niamh O’Neill, David O’Malley, Sophie Rieu, Delphine Grandjouan, We Are Islanders and Umit Kutluk etc.

One of our members of Irish Fashion Council, Richard Lewis, he celebrated 50 years in business in 2014. He was also honored with a special exhibition at the ‘Irish Designers Create’ project in Brown Thomas. Along with Richard Lewis the names like Rebecca Marsden, Lisa Ryder, Sean Byrne and Honor Fitzsimons were also featured in ‘Create 2014’. The basic goal of this exhibition was to prove the world that the Irish Fashion Designers have the ability to sell their fashion accessories and stuffs in the world market side by side with the other renowned leading brands and labels.

Rebecca Marsden a member of Irish Fashion Council also won the Most Innovative Designer and Most Innovative Fashion Collection awards at the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards in April. Several other members of the Irish Fashion Council like Heidi Higgins, Emma Kate Manley and Niamh O’Neill, they also performed well in the Local Enterprise Offices Young Entrepreneur of The Year program. The Irish Designer got their fame due to the quality in design, fabric, and finish and details not only this but the members’ collections appeal to a broad community of customers of varying lifestyles and life stages.

The CIFD (Council of Irish Fashion Designers) designers also offered choices in the range of fun and experimental knitwear through sharp tailoring, theatrical red carpet and occasion wear, to luxurious and romantic wedding dresses in 2014.So they beat up every aspect of all global leading fashion brands in 2014. The other names like Mark Burke, Martha Lynn, Aoife Kirwan and Aisling Ahern have all enjoyed a remarkable year where their creativity and craftsmanship.
